Spoken Word & Music

When music is woven with spoken messages of authenticity and heart, the listener is often moved and infused with essential meaning. Included offerings are Graceful Passages, Care for the Journey and The Heart of Healing.

Graceful Passages: A Companion for Living and Dying (New World Library, 2000), an award-winning giftbook with 2 audio CDs, is our first spoken word and music offering. Over 100,000 listeners at every stage of acceptance and letting go have benefited from its all-embracing wisdom and calm reassurance.

Together with the spoken voices of Thich Nhat Hanh, Ram Dass, Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, and leaders from different religious and spiritual traditions, the work features the original music score of Emmy-award winning film composer, Gary Malkin.

A second CD, Unspeakable Grace, provides the music soundtrack by itself without spoken words. This exquisite recording may be listened to in a wide variety of environments, helping to create an atmosphere of openness and acceptance.

The Graceful Passages project began by asking spiritual leaders the question- “What would you say to someone who was dying?”- and then setting the essence of their response to music.

Originally inspired by co-founder Michael Stillwater’s experience singing for patients at the bedside in hospice, creating spontaneous songs for them, their families and care providers- and seeing the profound effect music can have for someone facing their life’s summation.

“The healing effect of this music and these words on our mind/body cannot be overestimated…
Graceful Passages touches us where it matters most.”

– Joan Borysenko, Ph.D., Author, Minding the Body,
Mending the Mind

The spoken word/music resource may be downloaded separately
or ordered as a 2 CD set, ‘messages’ and ‘music’-
encased in an elegant gift book with all messages and commentaries.

Produced by Michael Stillwater and film composer Gary Malkin, in collaboration with Dan Alvarez and Doris Laesser Stillwater.
