In Search of The Great Song Series Trailer
Our intention is to inspire the remembrance of an underlying connection while encouraging creative expression, exploring themes of singing and songmaking in particular. As such, the series brings awareness to a worldwide epidemic of people afraid to sing, or express their creative self, unless they believe their offering is 'perfect', while highlighting an active global movement of creative expression.
Co-produced by Michael Stillwater and Doris Laesser Stillwater, a series of feature documentaries is in development, each episode featuring a different aspect of expression around the theme of 'The Great Song'. The films include both known and unknown artists, teachers, scientists, elders and youth.
Our first release, Shining Night: A Portrait of Composer Morten Lauridsen, received two Best Documentary awards and was called 'a heartening rarity' by Wall Street Journal. The film gives audiences a closeup of the man behind the most frequently performed choral music of modern history, uncovering the key to the enduring nature of his music.
Our current project, 'The Fire Dance of Emaho Montoya- Awakening the Mystery Within', extends the definition of the Great Song to other forms of expression of the inner harmonic beyond music, focusing here on the work of a man, born of Native American ancestry, who teaches through fire.
For over thirty years in America and Europe he has taught the Fire Dance, a unique ceremony for cultivating understanding through the heart.
