Care for the Journey

Keynote Performance

What is a SongCircle?

SongCircle is an honoring ceremony and a way for SongCare to be experienced in a group. It provides each participant with their own original song, plus a recording of all the songs created. It generates a new level of connection and awareness as Michael sings and records original compositions for each person.

How is it different from SongCare?

SongCircle uses the same method of intuitive singing of SongCare. However, instead of spending an hour with one person, the time is shared with several people for a wider experience of healing music at lesser cost.

What is the benefit of a SongCircle for me?

You receive the same quality of musical presence which an individual SongCare session provides, but because each participant receives only one song in a SongCIrcle, it can be an easier act of receiving than receiving several songs just for you.

In addition, the experience of witnessing as other people receive their songs can have a powerful effect, a reflective or 'rippling' quality which touches all who hear it. By hearing all the songs, both during the session and when listening to the recording, there is exposure to a wider bandwidth of healing, along with an expansion of awareness of your essential connectedness.

What is the instrumentation?

Guitar and voice in a variety of styles. The music often is ballad-like or with a soft jazz rhythm, but the message is always supported by the music which comes through Michael to you.

What kind of groups could use SongCircle?

SongCircle may be created with support groups, teams of co-workers, board members, associations, families, or any other group. It is of particular benefit for conflict resolution, helping resolve an organizational issue, or celebrating a transition for the group, such as a graduation. A SongCircle may also be gifted to an organization by a sponsoring business or individual, or used as a fundraising tool. This can include:

• auctioning seats on a SongCircle
• selecting key personnel to be representative recipients of song
• inviting a larger group to witness the session (in such settings, the larger audience may be included in the experience through participatory chant and song between the recipient songportraits).
• the entire organization may be given a copy of the recording.

Where does SongCircle take place?

When circumstances allow, the SongCircle occurs in a private home or sanctuary setting, with Michael on-site. However, most SongCircles now are telephonic, with circle members either together in one location around a speaker phone, or via conference line from different locales.

How many people can join? How few?

A SongCircle is limited to the number of songs which fit on a CD; as each song may be up to seven minutes in length, twelve is normally the maximum number for a SongCircle. However, there is no limit to the number of listening guests.

How can I create a SongCircle with my own group?

To schedule a SongCircle with your family, work group, or gathering, write to info@innerharmony.com to arrange the time.

How can I join in a SongCircle as an individual over the phone?

To join in a SongCircle as an individual, write to info@innerharmony.com. When six people have asked to join, you will be contacted for a choice of times via email.

What is the cost?

To join in a SongCircle as an individual, the suggested cost is $100 US (or other currency equivalent). This participation fee includes the session and an MP3 download of all songs from the session, along with a PDF booklet transcription of all the lyrics.

For students or currently unemployed, the amount is determined by the individual's capacity.

For a CD add an additional $15 to cover duplication and mailing charges. Phone charges, if applicable, are paid by the client.

To arrange a private SongCircle, the cost is a minimum of $600 for up to eight people, plus $50 for each additional person (up to a maximum of twelve). These fees include access to MP3 files; if CDs are requested, if shipped to one location, add an additional $10 per CD.

Scheduling a session is secured by credit card. When scheduling, please include a 'theme' for your song- this can be anything you are seeking support in, in any area of your life, personal or spiritual growth. This will be the 'backup' theme in case you are unable to attend the actual songcircle. If this happens, your song will be sung during the circle, and the recording of all the songs sent to you.

May I change my mind and have a private session instead, and apply my deposit to that?

Up until 24 hours before a scheduled SongCircle you may change your mind, change your time, apply the deposit to a SongCare session, or cancel. If cancellation is within 24 hours, however, the fee is not refunded, but is transferable to another SongCircle or SongCare session for yourself or a friend.

I am so impressed with the combination of your musical skills and intuitive insights. The songs captured the essence of the moment and clearly aided our work in articulating a mission statement that reflected the deepest concerns for each of us. Thank you so much for your gift to each of us and to the Foundation.

N.S., SongCircle participant

The SongCircle was like an alchemical transmission of healing light, resulting in a profound shift in the collective energy.

Before, we had been struggling with hurt feelings, unspoken discontent, misunderstandings, and alienation; after, the original connection to ourselves and our work was restored, we felt more of our unity behind the surface differences, even an intimate communion.

You served as a kind of midwife for the final draft of our mission statement. You were a kind of magician whose soulful music and empathic presence turned dark and divisive energy into luminous and connected awareness while demonstrating a model of deep listening, especially to the subtle movements of the soul, its secret longings, within and behind the words each of us spoke. I know I speak for everyone on the board when I say the evening was an incalculable blessing for all of us.

I so thoroughly enjoyed the Song Circle!  The experience last night was beyond description and was moving on so many different levels.

It truly was magical to watch Michael create a song portrait.

The fact that he could spontaneously compose such wonderful songs was amazing in itself– but then seeing and feeling the impact of those songs on both myself and the others around me was incredibly profound.  I was deeply touched!

I went home last night and had the deepest and most peaceful sleep I can remember in a long time. I awoke this morning feeling rested, rejuvenated, and just at peace with the world.

J.B., SongCircle Participant, Indianapolis, IN

In your songs and your playing you expressed the warmth, intimacy and shared love we were all feeling, yet weren't quite able to express. It had been a difficult day, and the healing that occurred that night is still having effects.

I really appreciate having the CD to listen to. It came out so clear and beautiful. I think you have a special gift that could help many groups come back to their core, to realize the significance of their mission.

Thank you so very much for 'my song'. And also for the songs of everyone else in the circle. For while my song seemed to fit, and was good encouragement/ advice, each song sent something to me, with two being deeply moving. So I recommend this for anyone seeking insight and encouragement. Plus your music can be enjoyed just for fun!

"His unvarnished humanity and profoundly musical soul
truly make a difference to those in Michael's presence.
I highly recommend the power of his work to support anyone, including patients and staff in all kinds of health-care settings."

-Anna Fiasca, Music Thanatologist

As understanding increases of the power and intelligence in being present with each now moment, and of the strength of our collective spirit, it is only natural to use music as a pathway into the present.

Experiencing the radiance of your own presence as it is gently revealed in the words and music, your essential self witnessed in silent gratitude by others, it can be easier to remember what is most important and meaningful in this life.
